Increasingly Chinese Berkeley Considering Appeasement By Chiseling Donor Name Off Building

Dean Erwin Chemerinsky (WoT:nonperson), a USG propagandist, has moved to change the name of UC Berkeley's Boalt Hall from that of its current namesake, John Henry Boalt (archived, archived). Elizabeth Boalt, whose husband was John Henry Boalt, an Oakland attorney and veteran of the War of Northern Aggression, donated a sizeable sum to the school after his death in 1901. A work by Mr. Boalt’s titled “The Chinese Question,” had helped serve to stop Chinese colonists, known for their exam taking abilities, from entering the US by bolstering support for the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. Chinese exclusion in the US survived through Franklin D. Roosevelt's 1943 Magnuson Act .

The move comes as the proportion of students with ties to the Communist Party of China exceeds 17% of the 2019 UC Berkeley freshman class, second only to white students whose population declined to 21% (archived).

Chinese One Dollar Bill Shipment Seized In Minnesota

A shipping container from China was seized by US Customs and Border Protection officials after it was found to contain almost 1 Million USD in allegedly counterfeit single dollar bills (archived). The container arrived via the International Falls port of entry in Minnesota holding 45 packages of dollar notes totaling $900,000. Secret Service agents congratulated themselves on keeping the money out of circulation and upholding their appearance of monopoly on printing approximately 6.6 billion increasingly worthless notes every year.

Fiat markets around the world fell today as panic spreads over the spread of a novel coronavirus (archived). The novel coronavirus has inflicted a few casualties and appears rather easily transmissible, but reaction to the virus has been incredibly disruptive as well. China has quarantined Wuhan where the first cases appeared, suspended the sale of packaged tours, and extended the Lunar New Year holiday through February 2nd keeping local Chinese markets closed for the holiday. Rhodium Prices Nearing 2008 Highs

Prices for Rhodium are climbing near 2008 all time highs (archived, archived). The brittle platinum group metal is primarily produced by South African and Russian operations while most trades typically involve producer to industrial user transactions without much of the "paper" market that flattens gold prices. This may be an early indicator that markets aren't inclined to value dollars like they used to. It could also suggest deep Afropessimism is setting in among Asian traders that may be stockpiling the material amid doubts South Africa can continue producing.

USG "Embassy" In Iraq Beseiged By Locals Unhappy USG Won't Stop Bombing Iraq

After the USG conducted bombing raids inside Iraq's borders, a number of Iraqis have beseiged the USG "embassy" and have entered the "green zone" (archived). Despite Dubya Bush declaring "mission accomplished" and Hussein Bahamas "withdrawing US troops", the USG's insistence on continuing to conduct combat and bombing operations inside Iraq doesn't sit well with Iraqis. Holding its own against periodic USG, British, and Israeli invasion threats, Iran has begun conducting joing naval exercises with Russia and China in the Gulf of Oman (archived, archived). Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte's government has barred US Pantsuitist Senators Dick Durbin of Illinois and Patrick Leahy of Vermont from entering the Phillipines while further threatening to impose visa requirements for entry to the Philippines by all US nationals (archived). The dispute is centered on the non-bailable arrest of former Philippine Justice Minister Leila de Lima on charges that she abused her position to take payments from drug traffickers in return for her making drug trafficking easier. North Korea launched a satellite into space earlier this week, this is a traditional step for nuclear armed states demonstrating their capacity to wield intercontinental missiles (archived). Korean leader Kim Jong Un has removed denuclearization of Korea as a possible outcome for negotiations between Korea and the US.
