A move to block access to Bitcoin related websites from within Russia earlier this year has been overturned according to a Russian bitcoin news site (archive) after representatives from Bits.media as well as Bitcoinconf.ru successfully argued that the decision to ban their websites should be cancelled. Today Mircea Popescu announced the creation of a Bitcoin Internet Service Provider adding to the increasing amount of infrastructure outside of the fiat regime's grasp and available to those aligned with Bitcoin's Most Serene Republic. The Bitcoin Internet Service Provider rather than offering any sort of shared or virtualized product instead offers raw metal, dedicated servers for which customers may have a Linux of their choice provisioned. Any system administration beyond provisioning a server is the responsibility of the customer, though some limited support may be provided and referrals for further service may be offered. Scotland Takes Symbolic Step Towards Online Independence
The Register reports that the Scottish government has moved its online home from 'scotland.gov.uk' to 'gov.scot' in a move that pleases the leadership of the Scottish National Party. Last year a ballot initiative which would have opened the path for Scotland to render the 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' instead merely the 'United Kingdom of Lower Britain and Northern Ireland' was defeated. Continued nationalist sentiment and dissatisfaction with English governance has left London forced to continue throwing money at Scotland in an effort to bribe the Scottish people into docility. Amid Domain Name Hijacking, CoinFire's Alleged SEC Source Is Revealed
Repeated attacks on the Bitcoin news site CoinFire today culminated with the theft of the coinfire.cf domain and twitter account @coinfireblog. If the individual or group who took over the @coinfireblog twitter account is to be believed, the attackers have also gained access to CoinFire's email inbox and published the alleged name of their SEC source who leaked documents confirming that scammer Josh Garza and his string of shell companies are currently being investigated by the SEC. Bitcoin.org Blacklisted In Russia
Bitcoin.org has been added to a list of domains names forbidden within the Russian Federation. Despite being approved for blacklisting back in September of 2014, it is only today that the ban has gone into effect. The decision to approve the ban was made by the суд otherwise known as the Federal Court Registry. Continue reading
Discus Fish Donates Namecoins to Namecoin Developers
A posting on the official Namecoin forum reveals that Bitcoin mining pool Discus Fish has donated 20,000 Namecoins to developers to bring the Namecoin client in line with the current Bitcoin client developed by Vessenes' foundation. At present there is a Github repository where code committed to this effort so far is currently available.
Namecoin was the first credible fork of the Bitcoin codebase and remains one of the few altcoins of enduring interest. The Namecoin project was born out of a desire to expand the principles that laid the foundation for Bitcoin's success in reinventing money to doing the same for Domain and other name services. Namecoin was even early enough to get suggestions and code commits from Satoshi Nakamato himself. Continue reading
BitPay Forget To Renew Bitcore.io Domain Name
In February of this year, BitPay launched an open source JavaScript library titled Bitcore. The project aims to encourage and assist developers in building software which interfaces with the Bitcoin network. The Bitcoin.com.au Story Continues
On the 25th and 26th of November, Qntra ran a story in which we claimed the bitcoin.com.au domain name had been deleted due to a complaint lodged with auDA which outlined incorrect registrant information. In response to that article, Qntra received a statement from Shane Murphy on behalf of digitalBTC and Zhenya Tsvetnenko which can be read here. Shane Murphy clarified that the domain name had been dropped by Zhenya in his capacity as sole director of Magna Fortis Pty Ltd and not Executive Chairman of digitalBTC, an important distinction.
