Numerous sources are reporting that the Democratic People's Republic of Best Korea has launched a rocket into space, and that the government of Best Korea is declaring its effort to launch a satellite into space a success. Almost exactly one month ago the Democratic People's Republic of Best Korea claimed success in testing a hydrogen bomb. During the 20th century Cold War between the USSR and United Soviet Socialist America the capability to launch satellites into space was used as a proxy that demonstrated the ability to deploy nuclear weapons at any range. Continued space launches on the part of the Democratic People's Republic of Best Korea would indicate an aerospace industry significant enough to sustain the production and maintenance of intercontinental ballistic missiles and add further credibility to the nation's growing nuclear deterrent.

Mercedes Joins German Carmaker Emissions Train
Never content to allow trends to pass it by without a full-throttle attempt at keeping up – be it luxury SUVs, hybrid cars, or überfragmentation of market niches – German firm Daimler AG, which oversees automaker Mercedes-Benz, has just been implicated in its own nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions scandal, following the lead of compatriot Volkswagen and overseas upstart Tesla Motors. Ebay Has No Plans To Stop Being A Vector For Malware Propagation
Numerous sources are reporting that Ebay has no intentions of remedying a severe vulnerability that allows people to use obfuscated javascript to order to phish and spread malware through postings on Ebay's platform. Ebay's web interface in its current form does not allow users to engage in commerce without consenting to allow javascript to run on their machines, breaking Ebay on browser configurations which mitigate this vulnerability.
Turmoil Lead To Mizzou Credit Outlook Downgrade
The turmoil which gripped the University of Missouri's Columbia campus last fall has lead to a downgrade of the University of Missouri's credit outlook from stable to negative by Standard & Poor's. The civil unrest lead to the departure of several high level administrators from the University. Standard & Poor's currently rates the University of Missouri's credit as AA+ which leaves substantial distance before catching up to Illinois Universities whose credit ratings are falling into junk status with the rest of Illinois' public debts.
Ether Huffing Reddit Spam Persists
Private message spam on the social engineering platform Reddit supporting the dreams and aspersations of Ether huffers continues without any sign of abatement. The continued spam promoting Buterin's waterfall suggests that either Reddit is incapable of controlling spam, or that they actually support this spam at a high level. The lack of more traditional spam promoting online pharmacies, LVMH merchandise, and other marginal commercial ventures seems to demonstrate that Reddit actually has the technical ability to prevent spam. This leaves the very real possibility that Reddit management materially supports this spam campaign as the increasingly probable explanation for the spam campaign's persistence.
California Environmentalists Fight To Save Endangered Nuclear Plant
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that an emergent environmental advocacy group has coalesced to advocate for saving the regulatorily imperilled Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant (archived). The approximately 2.2 gigawatt plant currently provides 7 to 8 percent of California's electricity. Any non-nuclear replacement for the plant would require an energy expenditure relative to output 4 to 5 times greater than replacing Diablo Canyon with another nuclear plant, and a new nuclear plant would still require a greater capital outlay than continuing to operate Diablo Canyon. With energy prices in the United States falling to a point that prohibits new capital investment, these actual environmentalists are advocating for the outcome which minimizes the price in energy to keep the lights on in California.
Gavin Andresen Proposes Same Hard Fork Again
United States Government saboteur and hard fork advocate Gavin Andresen has proposed the same hard fork yet another time. His latest proposal is exactly the same as the increase in "Bitcoin Classic" advocated by himself, Toomim, and serial scammer and morally bankrupt hamplanet Marshmallow Long1. As the exact same proposal has been roundly dismissed in the form of Bitcoin Classic, the chances of this gaining actual as opposed to astroturfed traction are likely the same.
Obamacare Firm Loses Personal Information
Obamacare firm Centene is reportedly searching for six missing hard drives which contain personal financial and health information on up to a million Americans (archived). Because of the peculiar way the fiat financial system does business without strong cryptographic certainty, the kind of personal information contained on these drives is likely of supreme interest to all manner of thieves.
Corn Belt Pain Continues As Supply Trickles Into Markets
The pain being felt in the United States corn belt continues as low prices have reduced the flow of grain into the market to a trickle (archived). Archer Daniels Midland and other buyers are finding it necessary to raise their basis bids to get any new grain at all into their supply chains while farmers are forced to weigh how much of a loss they are willing to sell their crop for in order to plant the next crop. It remains to be seen how much to hodl farmers can muster and whether it will be enough to save their fortunes from the malaise affecting commodities on fiat markets. Sorry for your loss.
Concerns About United States Coal Industry Intensify
Peabody coal, the largest coal mining concern in the United States, faces concerns that it could follow its smaller competitors into bankruptcy (archived). Patriot Coal, Walter Energy, and Alpha Natural resources filed for bankruptcy last year while Arch Coal filed for bankruptcy on January 11th of this year. While oil has dominated the mainstream news cycle, the energy extraction industry as a whole is leading the fiat march to suffering. Continue reading
