Austria Ends Passenger Rail Service To And From Italy As Novel Coronavirus Panic Continues To Spread

Austria has stopped allowing passenger rail service to and from Italy at their border after a single train was found to have two persons that just might be carrying this particular cold virus (archived). While Chinese reaction to the virus has lead to war-time style restrictions on movement and disrupted logistics internationally, Italy has managed to lead Europe in novel coronavirus infections with an allegedly confirmed number of cases today in excess of 150 after standing at only 3 on Friday.

Carnevale in Venice was also brought to an early end today after three persons inside the city of Venice allegedly tested positive for the virus. Other closures, including schools, have been announced and are likely to continue being announced as Italy embraces the panic and bureaucrats embrace the pretext for time off.
