"Car 2 Go", a service allowing hourly car rentals through a mobile app, has suspended service in Chicago after being connected to a rash of crimes (archived). Numerous users of the app, of which at least 12 have been arrested, filled the app with magic numbers attached to the "credit card" altcoin network and proceeded to hire the cars through the app to escape sticky situations and in other cases simply hired the cars to take indefinite posession of the vehicles.
The app's developers at "Share Now" have gone on a PR blitz to fight local press claims that they were hacked or subverted by insisting that the app was working exactly as intended.
