Teenager Receives Eleven Years Prison, Lifetime Supervision In Exchange For Guilty Plea

Former Coin Brief author Ali Shukri Amin, who pleaded guilty to a charge of "conspiring to provide material support to terrorists" in June of this year has been sentenced by U.S. District Judge Claude M. Hilton to a period of 11 years in prison. In addition to his prison sentence, the 17 year old will face a lifetime of supervised release with added redundancy in the form of monitoring any of his future internet activity.

Mining Difficulty Advances For The Fourth Consecutive Time

Amongst a coup attempt which fell flat on its face, the Bitcoin mining difficulty continues to strive forward by way of reaching a new all time high of 54,256,630,328, an increase of 2.95% over the August 8th adjustment. Mining Difficulty Advances For The Third Consecutive Time

The Bitcoin mining difficulty has reached a new all time high of 52,699,842,409. This represents an increase of 0.81% over July 25th's difficulty of 52,278,304,846. Today's change also marks the second time this year that the mining difficulty has increased for the third consecutive time, last occurring during the February 9th, February 22nd and March 8th adjustments. One must look back to 2014 to find more than four consecutive increases at which time double digit adjustments were common, something which is yet to occur in 2015.

Australian Faces 88 Charges Related To Darknet Child Pornography Sites

Australian newspaper the Herald Sun reports (archive) that 22 year old Melbourne man Matthew David Graham appeared in court last week to face 88 charges related to the operation of 12 darknet child pornography sites. Graham is also accused of providing instruction on the abduction, rape and murder of a five year old girl in Russia.1 Continue reading

Scottish Bank, Police & Court Harass Bitcoin Trader, Conspire To Steal His Cash

The Herald Scotland reports (archive) that a bitcoin trader recently had £5,500 seized by Scottish police under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 after his bank closed his account and requested he attend the branch to collect his cash. Having collected his cash as requested, Max Flores left the bank branch only to be greeted by police who absconded with the money despite not placing him under arrest. This act of theft was further supported by a court which allowed the thieves to keep Flores' cash for a period of three months while an investigation was carried out to established whether or not Flores was involved in money laundering. Welsh Silk Road 2.0 Dealer Receives Two Year Prison Sentence

The BBC reports (archive) a Welsh man who plead guilty to charges of possession and supply of Class A and B drugs back in June of this year has been sentenced to a term of two years prison.

Cei William Owens, better known as JohnnyAlpha to his customers was arrested in November of 2014 as part of a joint operation between the FBI, ICE, Europol and Eurojust which resulted in the shut down of the Silk Road 2.0 and arrest of its operator Blake Benthall. Continue reading
