  1. The "smoke grenade" term alludes to the fact that any "privacy bonus" offered by ring signatures degrades rapidly over time. Substantial butthurt potential looms for those who proceed as though ring signatures offer a permanent form of concealment. 

  2. It says in the Big Book:

    Those who do not recover are people who cannot or will not completely give themselves to this simple program, usually men and women who are constitutionally incapable of being honest with themselves.
