Riding in a customized "Zombie Apocalypse Assault Vehicle and Troop Transport" with several pipe bombs in tow, Texas resident James Lance Boulware peppered the Dallas Police Department headquarters with bullets last Saturday, damaging the building itself as well as a squad car. While nobody at the scene was injured other than Boulware himself, who was killed by a police sniper through the windshield of his vehicle, Dallas Police Chief David Brown stated "We think he was specifically targeting officers."

No manifesto has as yet been found in connection with the attack, though relatives have mentioned Boulware was angry about losing custody of his adolescent son to Boulware's mother following domestic disputes that involved adult members of his family. Prior to his death, Boulware reportedly told negotiators that he was "going to blow up police because they 'took his child and accused him of being a terrorist'." The man's father recounted his son's generosity, recalling a large donation to Japanese tsunami victims and his gift of his own car to a young couple struggling with their finances. Both of Boulware's parents, however, ultimately pointed to what they characterized as their son's "delusions" as the cause for the attack. "We tried to get him mental help numerous times, but the system failed him, because he was declared 'sane'," his family has said.

It is perhaps unsurprising that mainstream media has focused on Boulware's purported psychological issues rather than his own stated impetus for the attack, despite his family's insistence that he was never suspected of any crime against the son that was taken from him. Similar emphasis was placed on the psychological state of Joe Stack, who flew his plane into Austin's IRS field office in 2010 following over a decade of battles on paper with that institution. In a letter posted on his website before his death, Stack describes the byzantine tax codes with which he struggled to comply as he tried to make a living for himself and his family as a software consultant, and his realization that he was caught in the US chumpatron. In a strange twist of modernity, the insane man's letter reads quite credibly sane, leaving the bloviations of his organised detractors to look rather delirious by comparison:

I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let’s try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well.

The only notable thinker active in the US these days, Noam Chomsky, pointedly discouraged the pedestrian ridicule humming around Joe Stack's tombstone, urging intelligent people to instead "help organize the Joe Stacks of the world," and "join them in leading the way to a better future."

The efforts of a defunct social order to paper over the flames of popular discontent it has itself created seem to fail more drastically and more ridiculously each day, checked in the field by an acceleration of deliberate if violent acts perpetrated against public-facing US representatives by those frustrated with the Statally Organised Pseudojustice System. The police, the IRS, and other government agencies have given no indication they mean to change their own rot pompously titled "policies" and "practices", but instead persevere in doomed attempts to "improve security," which merely complete the vicious circle.

As greater numbers of the citizenry are choosing to "join those who are willing to die for their freedom," the USG and its numerous tentacles will have to somehow come to terms with the banal fact that the only correct solution is deep, far reaching reform, and the inconvenient fact that such reform is incompatible with their continued existence, requiring first and foremost receeding from their overbearing control of the lives they claim to liberate and protect; or as Mircea Popescu famously put it,

Such a world would, of course, require the abandonment on the part of government clerks of all sorts of delusions of self-importance and personal centrality that they obviously hold quite dear

Whether the United States government will comply with this requirement or await destruction amidst its Stacks and Boulwares remains to be seen.
