The next block reward halving event looms ever closer with approximately 58 weeks remaining until it occurs.

Mining Difficulty Jumps By 2.44%

With the tenth adjustment in the Bitcoin mining difficulty for 2015, the difficulty has increased to 48,807,487,245. Today's adjustment represents an increase of 2.44% over May 3rd's difficulty of 47,643,398,018. The global hash rate as of today's change stands at 349,377,603 GH/s.

Mining Difficulty Increases, Albeit By A Small Amount

Today's change marks the third time the mining difficulty has decreased during 2015, something which only occurred twice during all of 2014.

Bitcoin Mining Difficulty Decreases For Second Time This Year

With what is the sixth adjustment in the Bitcoin mining difficulty for 2015, the difficulty has decreased to 46,717,549,645. This is a reduction of -1.50% over March 8th's all time high of 47,427,554,951. The hash rate as today's change stands at 334,417,246 GH/s.

Today's change also marks the 2nd time that the difficulty has adjusted downwards during 2015. For the sake of comparison, the mining difficulty only decreased twice last year. Despite this, 2015's hash rate has remained above levels seen throughout 2014.

Bitcoin Mining Gains In Difficulty, Network Grows Stronger

With what is the fifth adjustment in the Bitcoin mining difficulty for 2015, the difficulty has increased to a new all time high of 47,427,554,951. Today's increase of 1.59% over February 22nd's difficulty of 46,684,376,317 represents the smallest gain for the network so far this year. The hash rate as of today's change stands at 339,499,662 GH/s.1

Images which allegedly depict the site of two of the alleged largest bitcoin mining farms in world have been shared via the Chinese blogging site Weibo. The photos showcase what is home to the alleged miners of Antpool and BW.com, which as of today represents 19.2% and 7.9% of the hashrate respectively.

The text accompanying the images claims1 10% of the miners are perhaps resold as cloudminers and that the 100 petahash operation mines or has mined 1077 BTC with an "output value of 1.6 million a month." Continue reading

With the fourth adjustment for 2015 occurring today, the Bitcoin mining difficulty has grown to a new ATH of 46,684,376,317. This is an increase of 5.01% over February 9th's previous ATH of 44,455,415,962. The global hash rate as of the change stands at 334,179,783 GH/s.1

The block height stands at 344737 with a remaining 75263 blocks to be mined prior to the reward halving. The next reward halving event is forecast to occur in July or August of 2016.
